Summer Sessions
Columbia College and Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science students who are living in residence halls during the spring semester may apply for summer housing. Priority will be given to students registered for summer classes, then students working on campus and finally to students working off campus. Students may also apply for interim housing to span the time between the end of the spring semester and the beginning of the Summer Sessions.
Applications are available online at http://www.columbia.edu/cu/housing/docs/forms-apps/index.html. Summer and interim housing charges for current Columbia students will be billed automatically to a student's account.
Summer housing is assigned in two six-week blocks. For complete information including dates and rates, see http://www.columbia.edu/cu/housing/docs/summer-residents/continuing-students.html.
For high priority on the list of University housing, the completed application for admission and a separate application for housing should be received by this date. Housing applications are accepted on a rolling basis until all beds are filled. You will not be assigned a room until your acceptance by Summer Sessions has been confirmed.
Undergraduate and graduate visiting students who are registered for Summer Sessions are welcome in University housing. GS and Barnard students also qualify for summer housing through this application but must be enrolled in summer classes.
Current high school students are not eligible for University housing (this includes students who were accepted into the class of 2016) unless they are enrolled in Columbia 's Summer Program for High School Students.
Housing Applications will be available in mid-February, and a non-refundable $50 application processing fee will be added to your total housing bill for the summer. If you register after April 6, the application processing fee is $100. Once all the spaces are filled, the application will be removed. If more spaces become available, the application will be online again. Applications must be submitted online. Full payment must be made by credit card at the time of reservation.
Rooms will be assigned on a rolling basis until all available rooms are filled. Visiting students may apply for housing in advance of registration for summer courses but will not be permitted to retain the housing if 1) they do not register or 2) they withdraw from the University (i.e., drop all of their courses). Students must notify housing if they decide to cancel a room reservation prior to Summer Sessions registration. For cancellation policy after an application is submitted, please see Columbia's housing Web site.
