Enrollment Options
Matriculation
Degree candidates are expected to fulfill the requirements and maintain satisfactory progress as outlined under Degree Requirements.
Individual Course Enrollment
Students who are not degree candidates may enroll in one or more courses on a space-available basis and with the Program Director's approval. Non-matriculated students may take no more than four core courses at Columbia before applying to the master’s degree program.
To take individual courses, nondegree students must apply to take a class through Postbaccalaureate Studies.
Enrollment in individual courses as a Postbaccalaureate Studies student is appropriate for those who wish to take courses to prepare to apply for admission to the Actuarial Science program. Successful completion of Actuarial Science courses does not guarantee admission to those who subsequently apply to the master’s program.
