Russell Cassar Biography

Russell Cassar is a senior managing director and chief development officer for the private client services and legal & compliance divisions of JP Morgan Chase (formerly Bear Stearns). His current responsibilities include the technical direction, development, and support for these two areas of the firm. Cassar has over 15 years of technology experience in the financial sector. He joined Bear Stearns in 1993. As a junior software developer at Bear Stearns he initiated the design and development that launched a new broker workstation and portfolio management system for the retail sales force. He also implemented trading tools and settlement modules to further automate the brokerage operations for the department. More recently, he has taken on responsibility for much of the firm's trading, anti-money laundering and e-mail surveillance technology in his support of the legal & compliance division. Prior to Bear Stearns, Cassar worked as an intern at Manufacturers Hanover, where he was introduced to 4GL and object-oriented programming techniques. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Hofstra University.
