Maximum Point Loads
All courses are assigned a certain number of points (credits), a point being the equivalent of a semester hour. The maximum point loads permitted appear below. Because of the requirements for attendance and preparation for class, however, students who combine full-time work with summer classes are advised not to register for more than one 3-point course in a six-week session.
Students should have their programs approved in advance by their academic adviser or class dean. Academic advisers in the student's home school make the final decisions about whether a particular Summer Term course may be applied toward the major or fulfills a distribution requirement.
Columbia College
Students may not register for more than 8 points in any one six-week session or in overlapping sessions nor for more than 16 points for the entire Summer Term.
