After Registration
Pay Tuition and Fees
Registration is not complete until tuition and fees have been paid or arranged to be paid.
Students must either pay tuition and fees upon registration or sign an agreement for a schedule of billing and payment. Counselors in the Office of Student Financial Services, 210 Kent, are available to discuss payment options.
Columbia University reserves the right to withhold the privilege of registration, or any other University privilege, from any person with unpaid debt to the University.

Students may obtain Columbia ID cards after completing the registration process. ID cards are required for use of the libraries and facilities of the University. ID cards may be needed for evening entrance to some campus buildings.
Columbia University ID cards also provide free admittance to many museums in New York City and discounts on purchases in many local stores.
E-mail Accounts
Official Columbia University e-mail addresses are provided for all students so that the University and School can send official communications to students. For this reason, students are required to activate their e-mail accounts as soon as possible after registration. A student’s University e-mail address is based on the University Network ID (UNI) assigned to the student. The Office of Admissions and Student Affairs disseminates important information to students via their Columbia University e-mail addresses. A Columbia e-mail account also allows access to the full resources of the Registrar and Student Financial Services via Student Services Online. Student account information, including monthly billing statements, is available online only and through a student's University e-mail account.
Each registered student is required to open an account and to check for e-mail regularly.
