About the Program

June 27–July 24, 2010

Culture and History: Understanding the Arab World offers an incredible opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and understanding of the Middle East.

Organized in collaboration with King's Academy in Jordan and facilitated by the Columbia University Middle East Research Center in Amman, this program gives juniors and seniors the opportunity to engage in intensive study of the diverse cultures and rich history of the Arab world and to live and learn in the Middle East.

The four-week program includes a preparatory week at Columbia University in New York City, followed by two weeks living, studying, and traveling in Jordan. Students return to Columbia University to complete and present research projects during the program's final week.
