Who Should Apply

The Bioethics program is appropriate for students who are interested in working in various capacities in biomedical and health-related areas. The program will include and benefit three types of students:

  • Recent undergraduates who plan to work in the health care professions and are interested in bioethical issues. Students will have a diverse range of backgrounds, and may have majored in the social sciences (e.g., sociology, anthropology, psychology or history), the humanities (e.g., English), or the sciences (e.g., biology). Students may have recently completed their undergraduate degree, and be contemplating careers in medicine, law (with a focus on bioethical issues), public health and/or business with an interest in health care.  
  • Dual-degree graduate students who wish to combine the graduate study of bioethics with graduate training in another field such as medicine, science, business, law, public affairs or journalism.
  • Mid-career professionals in health care or related fields. Individuals working in law, medicine, nursing, or other fields (e.g., in various capacities in hospitals, biotech or pharmaceutical companies, law firms, etc.), who are interested in enhancing their skills and problem-solving abilities concerning bioethical issues.

Admission is highly selective.
