Ten Days in New York

A program for intermediate and advanced English language students, available in January.

Ten Days, Ten Seminars, Ten Field Experiences (4 points total)

During the course of this program, students will attend a daily oral skills seminar, followed by a field trip to various New York City destinations.

Activating Your Spoken English: Oral Skills Seminar

Students will practice and improve their confidence and accuracy in spoken English in each of these daily seminars. Group homework projects will include readings, Internet research, and group presentations in class. Each class session will be linked to a specific field trip to a museum, park, or neighborhood in New York City.

Activating Your Spoken English: The Field Experience

New York has hundreds of museums, distinctive neighborhoods, and cultural events to enjoy. Each oral skills seminar class will be linked to a specific daily field trip to a museum, park, or neighborhood in New York City. These field trips, though fun, are not your typical tourist experience—each field visit is carefully selected and designed to stretch your academic curiosity and challenge your use of spoken English. Students will be required to report on their trips by creating oral or written entries in our course blogs, and will receive personalized feedback from their instructors.

Optional Nights on Broadway

Depending on show availability, there will be several optional Broadway shows to visit at university-discount prices.
